Gio and the million dollar smile

Gio and I have known each other since college and have kept in touch through social media. When I put out an open call for models he gladly volunteered even though he had no modeling experience. I knew  it would be ok once we got together and started to shoot.

We met at a park in San Diego for the photoshoot. We decided to start in the shade since it was a very sunny day and we were getting a late start. Try not to schedule your shoot for mid day. The light is very harsh and makes hard shadows on your face that are not very flattering. In the shade we talked about what we were going to do for the shoot. I wanted to do mostly headshots and portraits and we could try some other styles too.

We got started right away shooting some headshots. I realized right away that he had an awesome smile. All I had to do was keep him smiling and we’d have a successful shoot. We ended up cracking jokes and laughing the rest of the time together. We used the entire park to shoot, from the benches at the community center, to the baseball field and under some trees.

We had a great time in San Diego that day. I can’t wait to go back to shoot more with him.
